The History of Alexandra House
Alexandra House was built in 1874 to accommodate the lady pupils of Alexandra College. The original cost of the building was 3500 pounds. Since 1972 the building was known as Alexandra House Receptions and until 1991 was solely used for that purpose.
In 1992 the Hamilton Football Netball Club itself a centurion institution successfully bid for what we know as Alexandra House. Prior to the purchase, the Hamilton Footbal Netball Club along with Branxholme Wallacedale Football Netball Club, Hamilton Harness Racing Club, and the Hamilton Racing Club formed a consortium known as the Hamilton Sporting Club.
In 1997 the HFNC and the HHRC formed a partnership and purchased the other 2 consortium members' shares of the business.
